From the bizarre to Classic Style ~ A collection of scarves & wraps

Whenever my creative juices wane or go walkabout & seemingly disappear for a while, I simply return to the basics… the versatile scarf ~ wrap… I’m fortunate that my yarn stash is vast & varied so it’s not all that hard for me to choose a few favourites & play… let the hook & yarn lead the way…

As cliché as it may sound, it’s nevertheless true, at least for me… each yarn has it’s own colour-way & texture & therefore its own voice, so it’s just a matter of listening & going with the flow – this collection of scarves & wraps is the realization – it still surprises me too…

Aussie Beach inspired…

Introducing ‘Beaches’ a freeform crochet/knit handbag, inspired by the golden sands & blue waters of Australia….

The colours & textures for this piece have been in my mind for a long time & I’m so happy to finally have it done –  little knitting, some Tunisian & of course lots of crochet motifs all came together beautifully I think….

At last… I’ve found joy in knitting…

Everyone who knows me, knows I’m not really a knitter but when I found Myra Wood’s book ‘Crazy Lace’ last year & discovered this new approach to knitting, I knew this was right up my alley – I just love the freedom of doing what I like…

here are 2 pieces I’m particularly pleased with

Crystal Grove sees the light of day….

I’ve kept this freeform piece under wraps for far too long & think it’s time for it to see the light of day – Crystal Grove is a special favourite of mine because it was inspired in a remote forest reserve where I often go for solace and inspiration which influenced the colours, textures and mood of this composition. A combination of delicate to vibrant green shades & edged with pale green artificial crystal beads give this piece a mystical look & feel – closure is a large hook & eye at top neckline.

A truly unique, one of a kind garment – I hope you like it…

Off to the USA…

Oh.. no, not me… how I wish…

2 of my favourite items, ‘Side Show Alley freeform wrap & Summer Harvest freeform bag’ are now on their way to the USA – I’m always so thrilled when any of my  freeform pieces find good homes but not only that, I feel inspired to create something new & of course reason to explore the craft shops for new & exciting yarn
