Corner to Corner Free crochet Pattern

Hi everyone, how fast has this year galloped ahead? It’s already October, with the holiday season just around the corner.With that in mind, I’m offering a classic ‘Corner 2 Corner’ crochet rug (afghan) pattern as a free download in time for gift giving.

  • The pattern includes:
  • both written & diagram (chart) form
  • both UK & US terminology

This is an easy pattern so even beginners can have a go. Gauge isn’t important, neither is your choice of yarn; just use an appropriate hook for your chosen ply.

Use up your scrap yarn stash, change colours as you like, work with variegated yarns. The choice is endless

This is a free pattern, it begins in a corner & worked diagonally, increasing on each row until your desired size, then decreased down to the opposite corner; therefore you are able to make your rug (afghan) any size you want: from a small cot blanket to a bedspread. 

Just be aware that you’ll need to divide your yarn in half; one half for the increase & the other half for decrease. And, if you plan a border, you will require additional yarn for that; I personally don’t think this rug (afghan) needs a border but of course, it’s up to you, this is your project have fun with it.

Stained Glass Diamond Motif Afghan Rug Crochet Pattern

It’s been a while since my last post. Hopefully the Covid lockdown hasn’t been too stressful for anyone & it’s been a somewhat useful time to get those ‘gunna-do-things’ done… Nevertheless, it’s been a difficult time keeping mojos flowing so, it comes with some relief that restrictions are beginning to ease & we can start planning our lives again & resume some social enjoyments.

For me &, I’m sure for many of you also, the past few months have been rather surreal, as though we are all taking part in a B-grade Si-fi movie; certainly interesting times we won’t forget for some time.

There’s always heaps to keep one busy, gardening, reading, re-organising cupboards, wardrobes, workshops & of course cleaning & more cleaning. But these are not activities that can replace our creative motivations.

Being in the more vulnerable ‘senior’ group (although I prefer the term ‘more mature’ group) I’ve been unable to shop for new yarn & have had to rely on my stash. Not really a bad thing as that certainly need thinning out.

So here’s a dazzling, colourful scrap yarn crochet rug (afghan) pattern  to cheer the senses. Suitable for beginners yet also an interesting project for the more experienced. Each square measures approx 15.5 cm (6”) x 15.5 cm (6”). Make as many squares as you need depending on your project – a little cot cover, a medium TV knee rug or a king size bedspread

Requirements: for the 6 square x 6 square rug (afghan) I used: scrap yarn from my stash for colours & approx 230 grams for edging & border

Hook size 4.00mm (US G) 

Each square measures approx: 15.5 cm (6”) x 15.5 (6”)

Keep in mind, even though I’ve given yarn & hook requirements, this is your project; work with your own preferred colours & appropriate hook

5 Stash Busting Crochet Purse Patterns

… due to some health issues of late, large projects have been put on the back-burner for the time being. However, one can’t be completely idle.  I’ve been working on a few small, quick crochet projects like the Booties Pattern  posted a short while ago.  Patterns that are fun to make & will delight your friends & fundraising groups.

Today I have a collection of 5 stash busting crochet purse patterns for you just in time for the holiday season. The Patterns are worked in multiples of 2 chs, therefore, can be made larger, smaller, even tiny, to suit any purpose.

All you need to make these vibrant, useful little purses is: your yarn of choice & appropriate hook, Buttons/beads, large eye darning needle & scissors.

Each of the 5 patterns includes: both UK & US terminology, written & chart formats with stitch drawings & instruction for lesser known stitches, photos & assembly instruction.

Have a rummage through your yarn stash & buttons/beads box, you’ll be surprised what you’ll find. Experiment with different yarns & colour combinations. And don’t forget embellishments; sew on some beads, a crochet flower, straps & handles. Make this project your own.

Basic Crochet Baby Booties/shoes pattern.

 

To everyone who has been asking for this baby bootie/shoes pattern; It’s here at last.

Not only are these cute, colourful baby booties/shoes (size 0 to 3 mths) one of my best sellers at the local Landsborough Market which I attend every 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month, people also constantly ask for the pattern.

The pattern, however, was in my head & on a scrappy bit of paper. I really had to get on & apply myself to the task & get it done.

Turns out, it’s a good beginners pattern & a quickie for the more experienced &  includes:~ written pattern & chart ~ both UK & US terminology~ clear photos & stitch instructions

I mostly use 8 ply 100% cotton for these baby booties/shoes but the pattern works just a well with wool & acrylic yarn. It’s great that we have such an array of bright colourful yarns to choose from these days &, that baby apparel is no longer limited to soft pascals.

I use a 3.50 (US:E) hook but going up a size will result in a slight larger bootie/shoe. So experiment to find what suits you best.

This is a basic pattern that allows for experimentation with colours, yarn, hooks & embellishments so, go on,  have fun with this one.
