Crochet Scallops & Spirals Ebook.

Happy, happy days… the Crochet Scallop & Spiral Ebook is finally finished & ready for sale – it took a while but I feel sure you’re going to enjoy the variety of patterns I’ve included.

If you’re familiar with my work you will know that I really like scallops & particularly love spirals; I incorporate them into my freeform work all the time.

So it comes as no surprise that if there’s one thing that I get asked about, more than anything else, it’s crochet spirals & scallops – how I vary them from pattern to pattern, how I embellish & keeping them interesting.

Hence, I’ve put together this Ebook (17 pages) in the hope that the collection of 7 crochet scallops & 6 crochet spirals will address & answer the many questions you have passed on to me & perhaps even a couple you haven’t thought of yet….

All the patterns are complete in their own right but they also lend themselves beautifully to experimentation & freeform crochet. Spirals are made as separate motifs – Scallop motifs are made separately but I also give instruction for working them directly onto your fabric.

I’d like to encourage everyone to play around with your own ideas, substituting suggested yarns / stitch size / hook size & what ever else you come up with

The Medallion Scarf Crochet Pattern…

The Medallion Scarf Crochet pattern.

What a challenge this little number has been to put down on paper… but Yay!.. my perseverance has paid off & I’ve finally finished creating this easy to follow pattern for you to enjoy.

The Medallion Scarf is a fun, funky & distinctive crochet pattern for anyone who would like to try something different & new. I wouldn’t recommend it to an absolute beginner but anyone with average & above crochet skills will find this an interesting exercise & end up with a novel scarf that definitely has the Wow Effect!

  • The pattern includes:

  • clear, step by step, instruction stitch drawings tutorial for working the Medallion

For best results, use a large hook (6.00mm (J)) & any 8 ply yarn… plain or variegated… your choice… they all work well with this pattern… but feel free to experiment with your own choice of yarn. I hope you have lots of fun with this one…

  • For the pink scarf I used: 160 grms Bendigo Woollen Mills, Rustic 8 ply (Wineberry928)
  • For the variegated scarf I used: 150 grms Cleckheaten California 8 ply

The Big Flower Afghan – A Crochet Pattern

The Big Flower crochet pattern is one for those of you who love making rugs (afghans). The squares are largish, work up quickly & so your project grows at a satisfying rate.

& remember… you don’t have to follow my colours… work in your own favourite combinations or go through your stash & use up some of those lovely tiddly bits that aren’t enough for complete projects but you’ve never had the heart to discard…

I probably wouldn’t recommend this pattern to an absolute crochet beginner but if you have some basic crochet skills & are willing to try something a little different, I think you’re really going to enjoy this one…

This bright, cheerful BIG FLOWER crochet pattern with squares measuring approx 24 cm (9 ½”) x 24 cm (9 ½”) can be made using scrap yarn from your stash or you can create your own favourite colour combos.

Make as many squares as you need depending on your project: a little cot cover, a medium TV knee rug or a king size bedspread

Fingerless Mittens with ribbed cuff & bobbled wrist… warm hands, nibble fingers…

I often have to pinch myself because I really am so fortunate to be living in one of the most beautiful places in the world… gorgeous, lush tropical foliage, flowers & brightly feathered birds & the sun shines almost every day… so, it might surprise many of you to know that I’ve become a bit of a complainer of late… ‘This year’s winter has been COLD…’ or am I just becoming more woosy & sensitive with age?

In any case, as I sit at my computer, something I seem to be doing more & more, my fingers icy cold & numb, I decided I needed some fingerless mittens that would keep my hands warm but my fingers free for the keyboard… something practical yet stylish (in case I have to answer the door… ha!) – after much thought, working out, doing & re-doing… Voilà… I came up with what I trust is an easy, quick & versatile Fingerless Mittens with Ribbed Cuff & Bobbled Wrist pattern…. The mittens take very little time to make, a frugal amount of yarn & I’ve made them with all sorts of 8ply yarn with consistent results.

They make lovely gifts too & are a great little item for fundraisers – I hope you’ll give this new pattern a go – warm hands & nibble fingers… how can you not?  Enjoy!

Although it’s not imperative to work differently for right & left hand mittens, I have, nevertheless, giving instructions for both right & left hand mitten because I personally like the cuff join to be on the inside wrist – if this doesn’t matter to you then just follow instructions for either right or left, the cuff instruction are the same for both.
