Sizing Beanies made easy…

Beanies, apart from being practical items for your family & friends, are also a lot of fun to make. The problem, however, is that no two heads are the same & no one pattern can cater to the differences. The following, presuming you’re working from the top of the head down, is a simple guide that I trust will be helpful with your beanie creations.

Alice Springs Beanie Festival 2024

Alice Springs Beanie Festival 2024

It’s that time of the year again, time for all the super creative Beanieologists from around the world to strut their stuff at this year’s Alice Springs Beanie Festival; only 2 sleeps to go.

This year’s theme, “Listening to the land” will have inspired many wonderful creations & I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s interpretations. Good luck to everyone who entered the completion. It’s a tough gig &, I imagine the judges, as always, having a difficult task deciding each category.

I named my entry simply “Listen” with a short speal:

Listen:
to the birds & bees,
to the rustling flowers & leaves
&
the cascading waterfall.

This is Alice Springs Beanie Festival’s 28th year & still going strong.

Have fabulous 2024 festival everyone.

4 Beanies, a Cloche & a Handbag.

Life sometimes gets in the way so I’ve been AWOL for a while but not idle. With Easter only days away I thought I should get motivated & post a few new items in my online shop; items I’d finished some time ago but required photos & listing…

  • The 2 flower beanies are created in a beautiful pure Australian wool
  • The 2 funky tassel beanies are created in 100% acrylic
  • The vibrant purple Cloche is created in a soft, premium acrylic
  • The freeform crochet Handbag is medium size with shoulder straps

I hope everyone gets to spend some special time with family & friends & I’d like to wish you all a happy, safe & relaxing Easter break…

My summer crochet cloche/hat collection.

I recently found some beautiful 8 ply & 10 ply cotton yarns that I couldn’t resist purchasing.  Although I didn’t have a project in mind, I knew the few brimmed crochet cloche/hats I’ve made in the past have always been popular. I decided to create a small collection for our Aussie summer.

These crochet cloche/hats are super practical; squish them into your handbag, throw them into the washing machine, they always come back into shape. All have a braid around the base of the crown. The brims are flexible so you can manipulate them any which way you like. A few have an attractive flower motif that can be worn on either side or right up front.

So, you create your own unique style.

You’ll find this summer collection in my here in my shop

Enjoy!
