Little Dots Rug (Afghan) Crochet Pattern….

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted anything new, 2016 being such a stressful year but I’m determined that 2017 will be a happy, productive & creative time again. This little pattern has been in the pipe-line for ages & I’ve finally put it all together… I hope it’s a pattern that is both interesting to work & practical to boot…

Little Dots Rug (Afghan) Crochet Pattern:

Little Dots Rug (Afghan) Crochet Pattern is a great, fun pattern for using up all those bits & pieces sitting idle in your yarn stash; those small yarn left-overs that are not enough for large projects but too good to just discard or throw away…

Little Dots Rug (Afghan) Crochet Pattern is suitable for beginners but still interesting enough for the more experienced.

Your choice of yarn, back ground colour, & appropriate hook that you favour, will give your project its own unique result. I’m a big fan of rainbows but there’s no reason why you can’t work your rug in mono tones…

Key Hole Scarf, a great beginner’s Crochet Pattern…

I receive lots of requests for easy to make crochet patterns from less experienced folk who would like to make something other than granny squares… Patterns that are easy to read & achievable in a shortish time … Items that can be made for themselves or gifts for family & friends…

This Crochet Key Hole Scarf is one such pattern that I hope will be useful for both beginners & the more experienced alike… the finished item (approx 89cm (35″) long x 15cm (6″) wide. depending on yarn & hook used) is a short scarf that is bulky enough to keep out the chills but compact enough to pop into your jacket pocket when not needed…

As always, I’ve given yarn & hook requirements but feel free to use yarns & hooks of choice… make it your project & experiment with 8, 10 or 12 ply yarn & appropriate hooks… don’t be afraid to work 2 yarns together using a large hook (6.50 (K), 8.00 (L), 9.00 (M), 10.00 (N))… The edging I’ve given is a shell with picot, but here again, there’s no reason why you can’t change this to a fringe or even leave it plain…

The pattern includes:

Wet Felt Flowers Pattern Tutorial…

I’ve had this tutorial in my mind for a very long time, but knowing how much time & work was involved putting it together: taking photos & editing, writing step by step instructions & keeping them clear & precise…

Like many of us, I procrastinated, allowing other things to occupy my time… even though that little voice in my head kept reminding me of what I had intended to.

So, a few weeks ago, I decided I couldn’t put it off any longer (that little voice was beginning to chatter & become annoying) – I got my act together…

Writing the tutorial was as I thought – time consuming – but I had forgotten just how much fun making these felt flowers is & how satisfying it is completing & reaching another goal…

ff-felt-flower-group Anyone can make these flowers, no felting experience necessary as the tutorial takes you through the steps &, apart from the wool roving, which can be purchased at any good DSCF0553 craft suppliers, most of the requirements are items you’ll already have in your home.

The tutorial covers 2 wet felted flower methods ~ (1) using polystyrene moulds ~ (2) free formed & it also covers making leaves, centre balls & stamen/pistils

Have fun with these wet felted flowers… experiment with colour combos, textures & sizes… turn them into brooch pins or jazz up an old hat, they even look great in a vase… they’re such a joyful gift for family & friends… enjoy!

Requirements:

coloured wool rovings (available from any good craft suppliers)
polystyrene balls, egg shapes, golf balls,
very sharp pointed scissors
rubber gloves if you don’t like harsh soap on your hands
old towels
bamboo sushi mats – bubble wrap
pure soap
hot water
old sheeting – chux wipes
craft glue
sewing machine
sewing cotton

Rainbow Crochet Granny Square Pattern…

Here’s a new crochet pattern for you to try… a very easy scrap yarn crochet rug (afghan) pattern, ideal for the less experienced but also great fun for the more advanced.

The finished rug (afghan) as featured in the photo measures approx 117cm (46”) x 117cm (46”) & each individual square measures approx 18 cm (7”) x 18 cm (7”). This, of course, may vary depending on your choice of yarn & hook.

Requirements for rainbow rug (afghan) pattern as featured in photo: 200g of each: yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, green – 400g grey – Hook size: 4.50 (US: G)

Make as many squares as you need depending on your project – a little cot cover, a medium TV knee rug or a king size bedspread.

Although I’ve given yarn & hook requirements, this is your project – work with your own preferred yarn, colours & appropriate hook.
