Crochet Chevron Pattern… by popular demand…

chev1a

So many of you have written asking me for this crochet chevron pattern… Well.. Yay! I’ve finally written it up & I hope you enjoy this quick & easy sharp corner peak, high ribbed chevron that I incorporate so often in my freeform work.

However, there is no reason why you can’t use it for more conventional things like: cot rugs, afghans or bedspreads – It’s a beaut little pattern for using up those scrap yarns in your stash – Or, you can take it that bit further by embellishing the ribs with embroidery, fancy yarn & treads or buttons & beads. Work in whatever yarn & appropriate hook you favour, each will give you unique results.. so, experiment & have fun with it!

  • The pattern includes:
  • both UK & US terminology
  • pattern diagram (chart)

White Felt Cloche Hat…

white-felt-1I don’t do a great amount of felting but, from time to time, I get a creative nudge & give it another go.. As a novice  felter the results are often unpredictable… sometimes disappointing… always a learning curve… & sometimes, as in this  lovely white felt cloche hat, super delightful…

The cloche hat was crocheted in 100% pure Australian wool & felted in a washing machine then embellished with a touch of beige & brown rovings that have been needle felted onto the white base. The decorative knotted braid was hand felted from 100% pure Australian fleece & attached to the hat.

Purple, Magenta Freeform Beanie, Hat, Slouchy…

It seems like it’s been quite a while since I’ve made a freeform crochet beanie… here’s one I finished recently that’s been sitting on my mannequin just waiting to be photographed…

The band was crocheted in a gorgeous Italian yarn (75% acrylic, 15% wool, 10% viscose) & is wonderfully soft… the crown is a mixture of spirals, bullions & assorted freeform fancies created in an assortment of yarns from natural to synthetic… don’t you just love the purple, magenta colours… beautiful yarn & colours to work with…

2 more… No Pattern, Freeform Crochet Lace Scarves….

Cafe Latte no pattern scarfruby red freeform lace scarf

These 2, no pattern freeform crochet lace scarves, have been in my ‘to list’ box for so long I almost forgot I still had them… if you remember, I’ve blogged about these no pattern pieces before so, many of you will be familiar with this freeform technique, for those of you new to freeform its an easy way to get started.

Begin as you would any round crochet motif & work your stitches randomly, no need to complete each round, turn your work at any time & work over your half finished rounds so that you are creating odd shaped pieces any which way you like… this is no thinking crochet, just let the yarn & hook guide the way… incorporate as many stitches as you like… give your ‘creative pixie’ her head, don’t question her/him just allow it to happen…

~~~ for the ruby red one I used an assortment of 100% acrylic yarns, one of which has the tiniest hint of sparkle giving this piece an elegant touch of bling ~~~
~~~ for the Coffee Latte I used a 4ply 100% cotton ~~~

Freeform Crochet Handbag in Autumn Tones..

Autumn toned freeform bag This is another piece I made some time ago after finding  a pre-existing synthetic bag base to which I attached this glowing Autumn toned freeform fabric created with Gum leaf motifs, bullion Gum Nuts & Vilene patches.

It’s a medium size bag  lined in a soft, coffee satin with 2 internal pockets (one with a zipper closure, the other for your glasses). The handles are sturdy cane,  with a secure zipper for closure across the top.

Size: 35.5cm (14”) wide x 21.5cm (8 ½ ”) high – handle height 11.5 cm (4 ½”).
